Introduction of the PD Recovery Support Foundation

The PD Recovery Support was established the 3rd of March 2004, to:

Stimulate and support the application of the method of treatment for Parkinson's disease as developed by Janice Walton-Hadlock of the PD Recovery project in Santa Cruz, USA. Janice Walton-Hadlock is an acupuncturist by profession, has a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Bachelor's Degree in biology and is associated to the "Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine" as a professor.

The Foundation's main activities entail:

  • Organizing workshops for Yin Tui Na/FSR Therapists as lead by Chris Ells of the PD Recovery Team in Santa Cruz. Chris Ells is an acupuncturist and has a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
  • Organizing meetings, following on the workshops, for both patients and therapists, lead by Chris Ells.
  • Facilitating treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease by Chris Ells together with the patient's therapist.
  • Distribution of the following manuals, as written by Janice Walton-Hadlock:
    • Patient / Therapist Manual - heavily revised edition chapter 1 - 21
      (update November 2005)
    • PD Medicine Manual - 639 pages
      (update April 2004)

Up until today the foundation has organized workshops, meetings and treatments in January, May and November 2004 and in June and October 2005. For further information we would like to refer you to the website of the
Parkinson's Treatment Team in Santa Cruz, USA, and the Parkinson's Recovery Project.

The Foundation's Board would like to stress that the method of treatment by Janice Walton-Hadlock is not scientifically proved. Treatment as suggested by the PD Recovery team is part of a research programme which is still under development. Until a number of year's of experience is gained with the current PD patients, and independent research by regular Western physicians confirms that symptoms have indeed decreased, all therapists and patients need to be aware of the fact that the suggested treatments are experimental. The Foundation's Board advises patients that are considering FSR treatment to notify their neurologist or general practitioner.

PD - Short for Parkinson's Disease
FSR - Short for Forceless Spontaneous Release, which is the English translation of Yin Tui Na, a Chinese method of treatment.
